CPLD for Dummies

Hi All,

I'm looking for very, very basic beginner information concerning the care & feeding of CPLDs; sort of "CPLDs for Dummies".

Any suggestions?

And when I say "beginner", I mean knuckle-dragging, mouth-breather level.

Just buy a couple (I'd recommend the Altera MAX II devices, they are really FPGAs), design a PCB, get a Byte Blaster (cheap clones are available), download the Altera Quartus software, and start playing with them. They are very easy to use.
