I have never heard of Woot (OK I'm embarrassed)

What is Woot I wonder??? Hey they have a "What is Woot" section! I read it, and already I love it! One item per day until they run out. That's it, no more. Don't return it, don't whine, you use a VISA card and we ship Fedex..... period.

I need a business like that!

Most sites I've seen spec the 8000mAh for the 5V output. Does anyone know what the internal battery voltage is? Is the "9-12V" output really 12V? Has anyone seen a capacity spec when using the 12V output? (It's probably not 3333mAh, due to conversion efficiency.)

    I just saw 5V @ 2000ma, 9V @ 1000ma and 12V @ 1000ma ratings. With that said, I'm not sure where the 8000ma comes from.

    Edit:
Sorry that's not it at all. It says Rated Output: DC 5V~1000mA; DC 12V~2000mA; DC 19V~2000mA and 8Ah at 5V..... THAT makes a little more sense.

Well, I bought one to use with my FT-817 transceiver. With any luck, I'll get about an hour and a half of transmit from with it. At only 8 oz. it's certainly a lot lighter than the 6 lb. SLA I was going to pack into the hills to power it, albeit with half the capacity.

    What is Woot! ?

It's where once every few weeks they have what's called the "Bag of Cr_p". For $3, plus $5 shipping you get three bags of cr_p. They typically sell out within minutes. They will include some sort of backpack or carry bag and a couple random trinkets. A few select customers also receive something extra. A couple three years ago I came home to a 32" LCD HDTV sitting on my doorstep - in a box that looked like it went to hell and back. The bezel had come apart but a few good whacks and it was good as new. Oh, I also got a backpack, some silly iPod holder and one other thing that I can't remember. Not bad for $8.00!

    Rich,

What time do you have to get up see deals like that? I can see where being in PST land is a huge disadvantage!

Not at all! 10:00 pm is the turnover time for Woot!. Being on the left coast is an advantage!

After "joining" Woot and making my purchase, I got an email from them which included the following:
    • If you receive your item and it doesn't work, contact the manufacturer first. They made the junk. Let them deal with it.
    • If they turn out to be total tools, contact service@woot.com and we'll grudgingly provide some further assistance.
    • If you receive your item and decide you don't like it, take it to eBay or pawn it off on one of your so-called friends. We don't want it, either.
    Woot: what a hoot!

Well, I clicked on that Woot link and all I got was aerodynamic umbrellas. Actually they were very appealing as I have been wondering how to get an umbrella to survive Taiwan's typhoons. Maybe I could even use one while riding my Yamaha 125cc scooter.

And yet, it looks like the outfit has the old 'sunset or horizon' warranty clause which was invented by used-car lots.

If one goes over the horizon or the sunsets before you complain, no return.

Woot changes every day or even faster. If you see something you like, don't delay! They sell out quickly on hot items.

I check Woot and Ebay's Daily deals each morning and share good stuff here in the Sandbox. Everybody loves a good deal!
