Feeling good about it this morning.

I really was struck by the change. What really hit me was others, who I value, expressing the desire to just not hang so much, limit activities, etc...
You guys all matter to me. Perhaps that just needs to be said, along with OBC putting out the call to Adapt and Overcome.
Finally, I was kind of put off by the switch without a vetting. Looking at where things are, and the well oiled machine we are, there is a case for saying that no amount of vetting would have been satisfactory. Perhaps fewer things could have been initially broken with another pass or two, but then again, there is a case for working together to sort it out being the right thing to do.
I now favor the latter, as those of us who see the things that matter are giving the feedback needed to build out a newer, better, faster well oiled machine. The old forum had it's teething pains too, and that same cycle brought us to a great working state.
That will happen again, and thanks for it Jim and Parallax, who spend the time and energy to empower us to do this thing the way we know how.
If one forgets the older software, this forum software has a lot to like, and it's fast, and it's more robust. (I've used it elsewhere, and consider it one of the better ones, next to Invision, which is kind of expensive to operate over time)
I will say this more clearly too: A whole bunch of my negative reaction was seeing friends do the same, feeding on itself to just get, well --crappy.
Consider this my call to just look at what does work, think about the fine people who gather here to do things we enjoy, and who more often than not do it very, very well. It's very clearly worth it to just power through, knowing the future state of things will be considerably improved over the past.
When going to get my avatar this morning, at Maddie's request, the older forum looked, old!! The day after the change, it looked so great and familiar. Well, that didn't take long --didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought it would.
Now I'm here hanging out a little on a slow Monday. That won't last. Talk to you all later, as time permits.

I'll be hanging around this forum, although the format makes my eyes hurt.
That one is harder though. Give Parallax some time on it. When they "skinned" this software, that all kind of has to work together. If we go and just hammer in a change to the background colors, it's going to look gaudy.
IMHO, it's gotta be a re-do of the whole process to make it work. It's also something that's not always obvious either. I've been in and around some of that art direction, and it's pretty easy to focus in on something, and it gets locked in early. Bet that's what happened here.
What forum software or content mangement system doesn't come with several pre-defined selectable themes? Grayscale would be better than the "Little Princess" color scheme that we have now.
It's an option!
