There is an entire new forum dedicated to this http://forums.parallax.com/ and scroll down to "Support for using this forum" (underneath the Sandbox forum). Indeed, there seems to be more activity in this new area than over here in the Propeller forum.

I'm afraid the color scheme on this new forums is making my eyes bleed.

I don't think I will be visitiing quite as much as I used to.

I found some help in "announcements". And I've seen, that the old forum is still online, so one can have access to PM, which I feared to be lost!

I would love to be able to adjust the color scheme as well. This light blue background gives me the same eye strain as watching tv at night with all the lights off.

I MUCH prefer a darker background with light text. I cannot find a way to change this...

    Thank you Heater !!
Is there any way to download the PM's ?
Color scheme is getting me crazy too... I had black background before...

I am tending to limit my posts in case we have to revert to the old forum and the new posts are lost. We shall see in a few more days. The biggest problem for me is the lost links.

Somehow, I think the old forum needs to be kept permanently with the old links alive except for perhaps the top link. Not sure if this is possible.

Otherwise, all the valuable links on Google etc will be lost too. Major damage here !

    BTX,

"Is there any way to download the PM's"

If you go to the old forum site ... http://forums.parallaxinc.com/forums ... and access the page with your old PM, you can (under Mozilla and Explorer Browsers) use the File-->Save Page As-->Web Page, complete and save the PM as a local (off-line) copy to your computer.

It's a pain, but at least you have them that way. The new forum software was not compatible for importing the old PM database or else it would have been done.

 Changing forums is a lot like when someone rearranges the furniture in your living room.
:p It's a pain for a while, but you eventually get used to it.

Who does that? Do you have furniture gnomes that move stuff while you sleep? My furniture is still where it was in 1984. (Hmm. That might explain some of my grumpiness about the forum change.)

Surely this wasn't one of the changes Obama thought we'd like?!?!

I know, way off subject, but maybe our complaining about the damned changes we're dealing with isn't too on-subject Prop-wise either. I still don't like it. Seems way awkward to view the latest post with the icon across the screen from the thread title.

The new forum seems to work fine.
I will be happy when we can upload custom avatars though.
The white background seems a bit harsh, wish I could set
    something just slightly less bright.

Custom avatars are now enabled. I'm still working out the maximum size of the avatar. I'm concerned with the viewing experience for our mobile phone members.

More like someone replacing all the furniture and them telling you that it is better this way. :D

The smiley means I'm not bitter.

Jim, I think there is a user option under "User CP" that will prevent avatars from displaying. Users with low bandwidth, should choose that, the rest of us can have high quality Avatars.

    thx for all your work.

W9GFO: "More like someone replacing all the furniture and them telling you that it is better this way."

More like, in my case, someone broke into my house. They then changed the locks. Whilst I was busy trying to get in they replaced all the furniture, cut all my books and pictures in half, mangled all my writings. Then they told me it was better that way.

 The "mad" thing means I'm a bit put out.

I am glad avatars are working again. It is so much easier to tell people apart at a moments notice.

Parallax why such a small limit on attachments are you running out of space?

I think Heater created a new account instead of just requesting his password to be reset.

mctrivia, Heater wanted to requested a new password. Nothing worked because I forgot my old forum account still had an old email address in it. Now I can't get in to change the password on the new forum. I hope someone can restore the old heater when they have a quite moment.

Well, I'm on a Blackberry Curve. It's not the widest screen around. I happen to like the vertical placement. Never did mind scrolling up and down. Scrolling sideways breaks reading.

Not worried about the size either. Big, little, doesn't matter much.

I always wondered why some user data wasn't placed in the nice, clean space between the user image (and I have always grumbled about a bitmap being an avatar, but I digress), and the post meta-data.

Other than that, I think it works. It's a getting used to thing from the old format, but I notice many communities choose vertical avatar placement. On those that don't, the smart phone deal is worse.

    Trade-offs....

So, that's where I'm at on it.

We will be offering different skins for the Forums in the future. Different layouts, font sizes and color schemes.

And if I had really wanted your eyeballs to bleed, I would have made the default font Comic Sans. ;)

Nooo!!! Not the comic sans!

Seriously. Thanks for doing some work on themes. That's going to be appreciated, and I know that's a lot of work. Been on some of those projects, and it's just tough and a lot of discussion.
