The notifiers are friendly, such as "your search results are...", "Thank you for contributing", but distracting.

Can we get rid of these?

If so, please add to the list of things to be done.

Edit: Is this connected with being able to do polls now? The old software didn't flash the redirect, the new one does, and the old poll wasn't working, and the new one is...

Also, the old forum worked well on a smart phone. This newer one is less usable because of the redirects.

We can turn off those confirmation pages globally. It might be possible that the feature can be controlled in a more granular way too.
