New to the Propeller

I have just started getting into learning the Prop and I am very suprised how much fun it is and how easy it is to use. (I can't believe I just looked at my PE kit for 6 months before I decided to get it out!...scared of it I guess.) I found a great deal on a 20Mhz 2 channel scope that I look forward to getting soon. I have all of the books that Parallax offers except for the Hydra book. I have a PE kit and a Prop starter kit. Is there anything else out there that I could benifit from in my learning ie...software, books, or tools.

If anyone has some tips please let me know. Thanks!!

I'm afraid you caught us a bad time. We just got a whole new forum and there seems to be a few issues(That will be hopefully resolved soon)... But for your question, you should read over the completed projects forum. There is a ton of good Propeller stuff that i think will help you. You should read through the Propeller manual to. Also, in the Propeller IDE there is a section where you can see demo programs that do various things... i am new to the Prop to(About 6 months) and it seems pretty easy now... Just don't give up and you will be fine....Good luck.

You are right about a few issues...I haven't been on for about a week. I had to reset my password just so I could get in to post my new thread. Thanks for the encouragement!

I've heard they just posted the complete Hydra manual...
That might be worth a look...

    Noooooooo!

I bought the book about 18 months ago. It came with the binding already loose. I got it from parallax that way but didn't want to wait so never complained or sent it back. I was thinking of buying another copy because the binding has come off completely and I hold the book together with rubber bands and binding clips. This really bums me out - 50 bucks wasted.

I don't see where they posted it as a PDF..

Yes, the Hydra book suffers from poor binding, but is worth it for the content.

I think I made a mistake about the Hydra manual...
Perhaps it was the Hydra CD that was just made available.
I just tried to see if the manual was on the Hydra CD, but is seems the Parallax FTP server is down or something...

Yes, the subject is correct nad if you've found your way onto this thread then you'll want this:
    ftp://ftp.parallax.com/Hydra%20CD/

Both a copy of the CD and a .zip file of the source found on the Hydra CD are located on our public ftp.
    Visit, Download, and Design

You're not alone. Mine fell to bits within 2 days of it arriving. I don't even know where the pieces are now, but it was a pretty good read.

You might take the Hydra book to Kinkos or another similar shop and have them rebind it for you In fact, it looks like the book might better be made into two texts for easier carrying as well. Just copy the Table of Contents and the Index so that both have them.
