Because of the new forum software all old links refering to the forum are now broken. is there any way this can be fixed?

It might be because it is now forums.parallax.com/... instead of forums.parallax.com/forums/...

Edit: nevermind, I tried that. It doesn't work.

I don't think the converter would be quiet that simple. but I am sure a spider could be writen to go through and correct all old posts. would have to be done by the admin though.

Broken is not the word for it.

i think it is the very definition of the word. The links no longer work because the information has been moved and no consideration has been taken to change them or leave code in place to redirect to the new location.

And why oh why did the new forum have to sit on the old URL?

I mean, with a simple link to "bla/bla/newforum" the new forum would be up and the old one would still be consistent.

I mean, when someone writes a new book they generally give it a new title rather than recycle an old one.

I mean, I not a happy camper. Those XMOS chips are starting to look really good.

it is common to upgrade in the same location. However if you are going to do so you should always do it in a way so that all old links still work and nothing is lossed during upgrade. with major updates it is often easier to place in slightly different location and replace the old site with redirect scripts.

Parallax is a great company but they did not quiet think through all ramifications on this one.

As for XMOS they have been looking tempting for a while. I just don't want to invest time and money into a new processor at the moment especially when the parallax forum has been so helpful.
