Thank you Parallax for having a excellent forum

Okay, okay. I had to play with an Arduino, just doing some basic things on it. So after learning some about it i decided to try and interface it to a I2C EEPROM. I tried everything and it didn't work, so i went to the Forum for help(Bad idea). Not only did practically nobody even answer, but i got called a Twit for not knowing more about C++/ and the Arduino(And it is not over yet)....I just wanted to say, THANK YOU Parallax for having a good forum, good products and the best help anybody could ask for...AND thank you to the many forum members, who have answered my questions without resorting to name calling. This is why Parallax is still on top

Yes, it's indeed a great forum. I learn a lot from the help I get here and from reading comments made by forum members to other members looking for help. Also, I really enjoy the format Parallax has chosen. It beats any other forum formats I've ever used and I can't figure out why all forums aren't set up like this one.

I'm also baffled by how courteous most people are. Aside from joking around once in a while, people here tend to treat each other with patience and respect. It seems to be a very rare phenomenon on the internet, but I'm sure glad it's here.

This is a one-of-a-kind community.. The Propeller attracts some of the best people I've ever met.

Welcome to the community.. You should plan to attend a UPE so you can meet these people in person. :)

@Ravenkallen - post a link, or it never happened... smile.gif

I don't agree with the person that called you a twit. I do think that perhaps you were being a bit trollish...

He deserved all he got on the Arduino forum! If he had bothered to read the documentation he wouldn't have looked so silly.

I really don't want intelligent kids who are inspired to make really cool things lose interest in technology simply because they burned themselves or their sister beyond all recognition. Many experienced people on that thread gave the kid lots of good advice, which he simply refused to accept. We explained to him many reasons why his "plan" wouldn't work and encouraged him to learn more about the processes involved, or to move on to other things. When that didn't work, I tried a different tactic and summoned the Oxygen Fairy. Ya'think it made him think a little? devil.gif

Thanks guys..... It would be so cool to come to a UPE... I don't think many people would want to come to/ live in New Hampshire
@Kevin Wood.... What the heck do you mean by re-reading my posts on the thermite thread? Trollish?
@Leon....AH thanks, what a pal.... I have read over some of the Arduino documentation, but not enough to know the lack of a setup and loop function would make the program fail.... He could just tell me that it wouldn't work and he didn't need to get all upset about it. AND i don't think that you would resort to name calling(which solves nothing)

I think that what annoyed him was that you wouldn't provide your code, despite being asked a couple of times. They were actually quite nice to you, people on the AVR Freaks forum would have been extremely rude.

Ravenkallen,
About the thermite thread, I think Kevin was talking to me. He put my quote in a quote box and then commented below it. No worries. smile.gif

Okay, i guess you are right BradC and Leon.... It could have been worse....I just got frustrated because i couldn't get it to work AND then somebody called me a name and i went off pretty good, plus my life has been kinda tense lately. I guess i should learn more before i open my mouth. I tend to rush right to level 10 only to get put back to level 1 because i don't know what to do ....What does being a "troll" mean? i have heard that phrase exchanged(usually in a negative connotation)....Also i have officially been called a princess....YES

@Electricaye....Whoops, my bad. I thought he was talking to me.

It means someone who posts something provocative, knowing it will annoy people. I've been called one occasionally, just for telling the truth.

Oh, Thanks Leon... I was not trying to be annoying. I was merely asking a question(Perhaps i was a little brash)

Ravenkallen, I don't think you were being a troll. A real troll would never have given up so easily. But by "trollish" I mean that the way you handled the post was in some ways similar to the tactics a real troll would use to stir up the pot.

FWIW, the person that called you a twit answered your final post in a somewhat conciliatory manner. So you now have an opportunity to gain back your Arduino forum creds, should you choose to do so.
