Garden Sprinkler Controller
I've searched the archive, but found nothing on garden sprinkler control
I have 4 controllers. Each·controller operates·a group of 4 or 5 electric valves.
On each side of the house there is one controller, and associated group of valves.
Programming a controller is painful
I'd like a central location to control all·18 electric valves·based on day of week, time of day, my mood, etc.· I'm planning to use·a touch screen·to set variables and display·status.·
I'm pretty sure I can build the hardware/software for the central·control and the·remote valve controls.· But how would they communicate?· Is the XBee appropriate?· Is the wireless signal·strong enough to go through my house?
I looked·at x10, but that system seems expensive. It·uses·remote PLCs,·with·central programming
Your input is appreciated..

The XBee Pros are rated at 300 ft indoor, urban range, seems like that should do well.
