Finger Your Mouse for less than $3

Unusual·form factor for a mouse; <$3 shipped from HK/China. Might be an interesting input device for a game or some offbeat application. Not sure how far above the surface it will read. I have seen some threads here about trying to use an optical mouse as a wheel encoder.·I have doubts·about·the accuracy·in that particular application, but if you want to try, this might be helpful.
I'm just the enabler, your humble servant erco...

LOL
orientation is also a pain when it moves after operating the buttons and in order to stop movement you have to have the velcro strip so tight it becomes uncomfortable after using it for a while.
As the evil doctor said in the "GI Joe" movie, "SCIENCE REQUIRES SACRIFICE!"

By cumbersome I mean it becomes a nuisance after using it for a few minutes, basically you want an input device that allows you to work without it becoming a concious device ie you are concentrating on what you are doing and not thinking about adjusting the mouse around your finger·every couple of minutes.
The buttons or rather flaps, make it move around your finger every time you use them unless you do up the velcro strap so tight that it stops the blood flow to your finger.
The wheel is also in an awkward place so much so that you have to misorientate the mouse to make it more accessible, this causes the mouse pointer to move in a different direction to the way you are moving the mouse and so becomes another concious thing you have to worry about instead of just getting on with your work.
Because of the above I really cannot recommend it.
Blow science! I'd rather my finger didn't drop off
