Just a reminder...
Wires that are not tinned(SOLDER/SILVER/TIN) can cause conduction gaps.
Even with pure copper wires inserted into a breadboard.
Perhaps the plastic coats the wire when manufactured, or the tin makes bumps which allows greater surface area.
