Arguably a creative use for·a methane detector. Parallax sells one.

Not sure if we should be proud or ashamed that the Arduino crowd beat us to this particular app.

I'm pretty sure that's a Parallax Methane sensor.....

Robodump is even better, I think. But this is a creative use of an industrial gas sensor... and for some people I know it would definitely have to be industrial grade. smile.gif

I think it's H2S that causes the smell, methane is odourless. H2S detectors are available. It's quite toxic.

Leon is right, methane is odourless (ch4).

However you could do something with colour sensing - perhaps the length of time of the 'blue flame'....

I had a vision of someone inserting a tube and lighting the gaseous emissions. smile.gif

Yes, I did like the Robodump.

The idea of the fake legs and the sound effects was so funny.

But remember that the Robodump involved no actual smelly emissions smile.gif

I remember seeing a short film many years ago with the late Leonard Rossiter as Le Petomane:

    It was hilarious.

That is actually the methane sensor parallax sells. And I do remember when Adam Savage of Mythbusters lit a fart on fire with pants on.
