Serial port stopped working...

Hello to my fellow poster and smart people...
For years and years, I have used this computer to program Basic Stamps, without ANY problems.· But, (yes there is the BUT,) anyway, all of a sudden, the editor can't find the stamp.· I do know that the DEBUG is still receiving from the Basic Stamp, but I cannot download a program to the stamp.· I also know that when I reboot the computer with the serial port (yes, I did forget to mention that I still use the old serial port for programming..sorry) connected to the stamp, the stamp will reset as usual.· So the ATN line is still operational, I think.· Seems that just the TX line is not working.
Is there some??????thing I am overlooking...I have no clue....
