Newbie question about BS2 OEM products

Hi,
···· I've been using BS2 OEM Module Kits at work for projects and was thinking about moving to the BS2p40 for its extra I/O Pins and·EEPROM/RAM. I have a 2009 Catalog, which lists the PBasic Interpreter Chips on page 12, and I see that there is no BS2p40 DIP. I had planned on getting a Professional Development Board and using it to program the chips. Instead of DIP, it says "SS". What does that stand for, and how would this type of chip get programmed? Thanks.

"SS" refers to a type of surface mount package (48-pin TQFP). The OEM BS2p40 is not available in a DIP package. There are various adapters available through vendors like Mouser and DigiKey for mounting surface mount packages with pins soldered to the adapter that go into a standard breadboard. There are also "Schmart Boards" that can be used for the same purpose.

    Hi,

·· Thanks for the reply! I'll look in Digikey's catalog.
