There is an EZ option to developing Android apps. That is "App Inventor for Android".

On the following page it says "You can build just about any app you can imagine with App Inventor".

Here is the link...

Bill190: Yep, I stumbled across App Inventor whilst surfing around today.

It's interesting and I may well come back to it but just now I'm trying the hard way with Eclipse and all.

This is way of topic for the Propeller forum so I just have to remind everybody. We are trying to get Android phones/tablets connected to the Propeller via USB serial. If we can figure out how to get Android to use the USB port in host mode we are in business.

I looked at the documentation. No blocks for talking to hardware outside the phone.

Checked again. Didn't see anything. I looked here: http://appinventor.googlelabs.com/learn/reference/index.html I appears that the emphasis, not just this project, is on web stuff, media, social media (App Inventor will twitter, but I don't) etc.

I don't need to twitter, there are enough twits on the net already.

I proposed the collective noun "twits" for those that twitter and tweet, on another forum, but no-one rose to the bait.

Why did I think a new, more challenging, job was a good idea ??

Toby, I've been away from native English speakers for so long I had to think about that for a second.

Very good! I wish I'd thought of it. An eminent psychologist, I think it was Hebb, once wrote that the large number of "four-letter words" in the English language demonstrated its superiority over all other languages.

--regarding the prop/android comm thing, i see on my DROID that it has IRDA on the front of the phone behind the tinted part of the front glass.. . another thought, you could also use the mic to stream data into the phone. Remote DROID works awesome over wifi (www.remotedroid.net) - gives me keyboard/mouse control over my PC. its a pretty cool app so maybe theres a way to stream high speed data from the prop, through a PINK and over the LAN via wifi to the android phones/tablets. My phone supports USB mass storage mode, but i dont think thats what you guys were reffering to.

I'd like IRDA on my Dell Streak, I have it on my old Palm Zire PDA. HP makes some nice little interface modules for it, I think I've got one of their kits somewhere that I've never used.

Leon: There are only 456976 possible 4 letter words if you use the English alphabet. Why would we want to waste them on meanings that are not used so often and are of lesser importance? :)

RinksCustoms: See Android android thread, in a minute.
