OBEX object doesn't work?

I've tried to use this object posted at the OBEX:
Parallax Servo Controller (Serial) driver V2

but it does not seem to properly drive the Parallax Servo Controller board @ 2400 bps.
I see indications of data going to the Servo Controller via the flashing of the green LED on the board and also in probing the data line with an oscilloscope.
I've driven the same board from BS2 code and the board drives the connected servos properly.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next.
Does anyone have ideas about what I can try to do next to get this working? For example, is there any way I can reliably capture a decode of the serial data stream from this code and the BS2 to do a byte for byte compare of what is being sent from each?
What else should I try?
