Rubber Feet for Chassis

I am looking for rubber feet bumpers for a chassis for one of my projects. I want them to be screw down and to be able to accommodate a 10-24 inch screw. The head of the screw is somewhere between 5/16 and 3/8 inches. The head is about or 1/8 inch high.

One search is www.mouser.com for 3M bumpers:

I don't think there is such a thing as a rubber bumper that can accommodate a 3/8" head. I looked everywhere. So is there anything that will cover the screw in the bottom of my chassis so it does not scratch my table?

    Some ideas:

    1. Replace the screws entirely, using bumpers with threaded studs.

    2. Use plastic screw caps (won't provide any anti-skid properties, though).

    3. Use self-adhesive bumpers that are thicker than the screw heads, positioned elsewhere on the bottom of your unit.

McMaster-Carr carries all of these items. (Boldface phrases are the search terms.) Except for the studded bumpers, your local hardware store probably has them, too.

What about a slightly over tightened rubber grommet with a flat screw head? A round head will defeat the effect.

McMaster carries 10-32 bumpers with threaded studs (bumpers that have a a 10-32 threaded screw rod) but they are too big, 1 inch in diameter and 5/8 inch high. I need it 3/4" inch or smaller and 3/8" high or shorter.

In that case, I'd go with the self-adhesive kind and call it good.

Depending on your level of desperation, hot-melt glue and silicone rubber will both do the job. With a modicum of cleverness, the latter can look quite nice.

Why not use poly-elastomer 'snap in' bumpers?

They're cheap, effective and easy to assemble: just select for the appropriate panel thickness and
    latch into place.

I've used thousands for bus/rail products.

Rubber stoppers from a lab supply house can be drilled to accept 10-24 (or larger) screws, or you can mount studs in them. Available in a large range of sizes.

I settled on some screw caps. They are chrome colored but that can be fixed with some spray paint.
