micro sd card

Hello, new guy here, I've just bought a uoled-96-prop module, which is an oled display with propeller chip and a micro sd card socket.
The manual does not give any details about the type of card that can be used except that it can be up to 2gb.

Now I am looking for a card , I find there are some which can be incompatible with certain devices, I assume a standard card should work, but I've seen ones called transflash and wondered if those would work, also can I use cards larger than 2gb, perhaps with a new object to access the card?

Thank you for any advice you can give here.

the new fsrw object now supports sdhc cards(cards over 2gb are all this type) the old one can not. the only restriction is the card support spi mode. I have had no problems with scan disk 32, 64, 512MB micro SD cards. I have not tried my 8gb card yet.

Thank you, I will get the largest, reasonably priced card I can find then, hope it's not a fake capacity!

I have used Kodak 2GB uSD with the uOLED-96-Prop with great success.

Might I ask where you got your uOLED-96-Prop from, I need two more, and they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

There is a special version of FemtoBasic for the uOLED-96-Prop available in the Object Exchange. It currently uses the "old" FSRW routines, so it's limited to FAT16 formatted micro-SD cards and should work with 1GB and 2GB cards if formatted properly. The FemtoBasic has special statements for the display and uses the programming serial port for its console. There's a Basic program included that does the graphics demo that 4D Systems provides in Spin.

Thanks mike, I will look into it once I become more familiar with the whole prop thing.

    Mike,

I use FemtoBasic on my current uOLED-96-PROP. Works great! 2GB card, FAT 16.

    Thanks golem.

I did a quick search on ebay and found the auction. Still selling at full price! I guess you can ask what you want when you have the last ones! :)

Milford instruments, which have a dealer link on this site, sell the display without the prop they use a different controller and a serial link, they cost £39.00

I love the packaging of that device... it's about one square inch, with the display, sd and prop!!! Pop on a small Li-On battery and you've got a complete system.
