Looking for a reversible AC motor, about 1/10 HP, about 1,700 RPM. Any suggestions as to where to look?

    Oriental Motor, SEW, Baldor, Marathon, Nord

    Automation Direct sells many direct and pretty cheap.

    Thanks, Franklin and Spiral_72. Does SEW stand for something?

    SEW eurodrives, they are a manufacterer of motors and ac/dc drives.

    SEW is my first choice... They're kinda big and clunky, but they are dang near indestructible and a decent price.... they are made about 15miles away from me :)

    Marathon / Blue (black???) Max / Micro Max is sold at Automation direct. Inexpensive and still clunky but I've never been that impressed with them..... for no apparent reason.... Maybe it's just preference. I've never had a problem with them though other than I hate the conduit boxes they use.

    Oriental is generally a nice compact (cute?) motor for a competitive price. I use them all the time, but the bearings and packaging aren't as durable as I need sometimes. They do have a very nice conduit box (option) though.

    Baldor makes some very nice motors too. It's been a while so I can't remember pricing, but they seem to be clean like an Oriental, but a little more robust like a SEW.... depending on the model of course.

    I've never used Nord, but they are supposed to be very good.

    Oh, if you need a SEW motor smaller than 1/4hp.... it's only made overseas with a 7wk lead time. You might find one in stock here, but for less than 1/4hp I'd look at another mfg.

    mpark;

    Fasco and A.O. Smith make fractional HP AC motors, some are reversable Via wiring and some can be reversed by swaping the rotor around and some will only run one direction. I am asuming you want to have the motor able to run ether direction via control switch. Hope this helps some. By the way, I work for an electric motor repair and sales company. I specialize in single phase AC, DC motors, and AC/DC motor control, so if I can help locate something for you just PM me with what you want and the application.·smile.gif
