Kye's Quadrature Object

So I'm about to order a qudrature encoder from US Digital today, and could use a little advice before I do. Kye says in the documetation that the code can handle 125k ticks/s. Is a tick the same as what the manufactures refer to as a 'count'?

The motor I'm ordering has a no load speed of 19,300 RPM or 320 r/s. I can order the encoder with 100 to 360 CPR. What should I get? Should I get the slowest or the fastest I can keep up with?

This is going into a balancing bot btw.

I suggest you the 360. Your ticks @19300rpm will be 19300/60*360=115k8 so below the Kye's limit. With 360 cpr(ppr=pulse per revolution) it's also easy for angular position. If you need angular position decoding I suggest you a 3 channel encoder (ABZ)

I'd be careful with my quadature encoder object and make sure that when you are using it the signal lines are not capable of being infulenced by noise.

I use the counter modules to do edge detection so they can easily pick up and noise in the system. And give incorrect counts.

The best fix for this is to make sure that the signal lines are being driven strongly by the encoder.
