    What happens if a few metal filings get in? now the battery terminals are side by side with only a small separator.

    Generally I like doing things for myself but the polarity of the batteries on my camera is marked on the inside holes which are only big enough for my AA batteries so either I watch how the batteries come out or I have to point the camera into the light to see the markings.

    I think it would be useful for the elderly or the seeing impaired.

    Or if the batt cell had a rather wide top to it and shorts out .. I had one brand many years ago that had a wide + side top.

    this setup could very well cause a fire ......

    That microsoft phone, they would have had to have changed the name of it had they tried to launch it in the UK, I could just imagine people referring to that Kin phone.
