Bypassing the PING))'s electronics

Hi guys.
I was wondering if there is a way to bypass the electronics in the PING)) sensor and take almost manual control of the transducers.
I am trying to send a signal then observe its reflections, not just the first one but other ones too if they occur.
Is there anyway to do that ?

There are a variety of DIY ultrasonic distance sensors described on the Web that you can find with a simple Google or other search that you could use with a microcontroller like a Stamp or Propeller to do what you want. Check websites like SparkFun for the transducers (like www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8505). Read the FAQ documentation on the Maxbotix devices. The complete distance sensors have some outputs that the PING does not and you may be able to use them to do what you want.
funnilly enough i was about to purschase the exact transducer you linked me to.
