A USB-powered coffee warmer that·kills your laptop's battery faster to·heat your coffee.·Plus, it's got 4 USB ports on it, so you can get your mug tangled in a rat's nest of USB cables, and spill·coffee on your keyboard!

Good gag gift, I suppose. For someone you don't like very much.

Pity it's not Virtual HiFi WiFi Bluetooth Blackfin Hires Digital IR BlueRay compatible.

The guys that build this stuff don't comprehend that the original USB only provides 500ma tops. If you split it out, you get less and less.
I learned that even using outboard splitters alone is a bit absurd.

For instance, I have a Seagate USB drive that requires two good USB ports to power the near 1amp of power. Seagate in their infinite wisdom provides a cord with two USB, but not opportunity to use a wall wart to independently provide the additional power. So I was left with the choice of building or buying and outboard power supply, or putting extra USB ports in the computer.

At least most laptops get it right. My EEEpc has 3 USB ports with 500ma each.

5 volts at 0.5amps is 2.5watts - not much heat for coffee.

3.0 is only 750mA . still not much more .. this is a Huge pet peave of mine with USB .

FireWire with 12V @ up to 2A is well. On Fire in this application ..

and whitepapers on USB state to NEVER parallel busses to gain more power Ever !

And devices that want more then 100mA need to request it to the computer .

If not the computer can fault In SW to assume a Bus Low Power error and shut off the port on said computer .. think of a SW fuse in a way .
