MSR1 Broken - Prop Chip Not Found and Power Good LEDs not working always.
I'm not sure what to do in my situation... My MSR1 board is not working anymore and since its more complicated than the·standard demo boards I don't really know what to do to fix it.
As of right now I think the·propeller chip·is not booting anymore and I believe that the·swtiching regulator is dead or broken. The board looks physically fine however...
Can I send this board·back to parallax for·repair? I did make some modifications to the board but the modifications I made did not cause the·board to stop working and were done way before the board died. I only added a pull up resistor to the SDA_DAT line (10K pull up to 3.3V on pin 29) and·I turned off the voltage translator on pins 0-7 and·connected those pins directly to the pin headers on the board.
I think I killed the board by accidentally resting it ontop of a metal surface unprotected...
Anway, does parallax do repairs and how much would that cost? I am trying to save having to pay $100 dollars for·new board.
Thanks,

Seems there can be problems with the voltage regulators, if you read through the pages: you're number 3 with a smoked board. Then again, if you sat it on down on a metal surface......Not smart..... I contacted the support department, they asked me to send the pictures and that's it. No news yet. On the other hand, I bought the stuff at active robots and they asked me to send it back. So I guess I'll get everything replaced (it's only 5 months old) by them.
At least I'm in no hurry to get it fixed.

Nyamekye,
Since you don't have any LED's it does sound like it could be a power problem. When you turn on the board can you check to see if the switching regulator is putting out 3.3V and 5V? If not then that is a problem right there.
I don't have that particular board but I did get a chance to look at the schematic for it. If you have a 3.3v supply or a 3.3V regulator it looks like you could power the board directly from that to see if the Prop is working. It looks like you can get away without using the 5V supply for now. Just leave the Vin disconnected, connect ground, and then 3.3V to the main 3.3V supply lines on the board. If the prop comes up then you'll just nee to fix the power some how. Either repair the onboard switching regulator or just bypass it and use a regulator like the Protoboard uses.
