bears (the big furry animal) and infrared ???

--- Hello. Everyone.· I'm back.· well, I never went completely away, but I'm now moving from an apartment on long island (NY) to a forested home in the mountains, west of Colorado Springs...

--- Hello Bean: nice new avatar ! - Hello Mike Green: 'good to see you here - I used, "search" for "bears" and found mostly Phil Pilgrim, (Hello again, Phil) but only twice did he refer to the animal -- mostly he used phrases like, "bears no resemblance"...· I did not find, "bears" and "infrared" in the same post...

--> there are many new (now it will be the Propeller chip) possibilites (oh, boy ! - oh, boy !) in a forested, mountain home - and my first question will be:· Can bears - the rather large forest creatures that will check out sloppily kept garbage pails during berry shortages...· can they be detected easily with infrared devices ??? -- or is their fur an obstacle ???
--- I know that the night-lights in my apartment that are the level of my knees come on more quickly at night when I'm heading somewhere in my skivvies, (bare knees) rather than when I'm wearing my dungarees...

--- the obvious solution is D.O.G. - and every home I looked at, indeed, had a doggie fence...·· but I'm still roaming the good ol' USA in my boss' advertising truck for months at a time...· and I'd have nowhere to keep a dog.

--- sorry for the delay... I'm on the road, doing a stint in Colorado Springs, no less... (though I have to stay at a motel in the city for two weeks)...

--- Big brown bears - the one I saw a few years ago, sucking up my hosts' bird-feeder, looked like a very tall, 200-pound man in a bear suit. I'm mostly afraid of innocently walking out to my car one morning... It might be fun to "alarm" the whole property - (with wireless units) but my main concern is that we don't meet, especially by surprise... I am already aware of good garbage practices... including no food left in the car...
--- by surprise - like at the end of the movie, Legends of the Fall...

moral is not to leave much food lying around..........just the bear necessities.
