LCD Backlight Turns Off

I am using the Parallax backlit LCD and I am having problems with it turning off (The light)·without being told.· The weird thing is that the problem does not occur in the same program when run with the switch in the "1" position, just when the motors actually run.

The project is a pretty simple Boe-Bot with LCD and Ping added.· I just want to read out some program data as it runs for debugging purposes, but I can't seem to keep the light on.· Suggestions?

    You have posted no code or schematic, but if the backlight turning off seems to coincide with the motors it could be a brown-out causing the MCU to reset and the LCD getting garbled data. More information might generate a better answer. Take care.
