Help please with Digital Encoders

Hi, i would like to know if i can use the digital encoders kit info:www.parallax.com/Store/Robots/RoboticAccessories/tabid/145/CategoryID/22/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/80/Default.aspx so i can learn the distance a boe-bot has traveled (for example in km).

Concerning hardware i already have the Boe-Bot Robot Kit and the digital encoders kit.

Does anyone have any guidance on how to do this, I have read all of the documentation on this site concerning wheel odometry info: www.parallax.com/Portals/0/Downloads/docs/prod/datast/ApplyEncoder.pdf

If someone has a source code or a sample code it would be much appreciated.

I have read all of the documents including the sample and test code but there is nothing in there about measuring the distance of travel.

Number of revolutions X circumference of wheel = distance traveled
