LPKF Circuit board CNC machine at UPENE

I have a LPKF circuit board milling machine that I just don't use much. I can make boards at my work anytime I want.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in seeing how they work ? I could bring it to UPENE and do a little demo.

I'd also have it for sale there too. I really don't want to ship this thing, it's like a tank.

It is an LPKF 93s. Has a bed of 15.75" x 22.75". Has a 60K RPM spindle. Comes with the computer and everything $4000.
If anyone is interested reply to this thread and I'll plan on taking it along. If there is no interest I won't bother.

Bean

Sounds tempting, but I don't think it will pass in carry-on luggage back to Singapore.

Got any pictures of PDF brochure on the item? It might help others see what the device is all about. I bet a demo at the expo would be fun for other to see.

Bean, I may be interested. I'll keep you posted. I understand that I would have to take care of pickup/freight to CA.

It is a LPKF Protomat 93s.

Here is a PDF of it.

The spindle is variable speed up to 60K RPM which is really nice. Alot of them only go to 20K or 30K. The bits last alot longer with higher RPMs.

I've mainly used it for cutting out parts from glass board (FR4 without any copper).

I was working on a Pan-Tilt fixture where all the parts were made on the LPFK and held together with bolts and captured nuts. I'll bring it to UPENE it's rather loud to run because you need to have a vacuum running at all times. It is really interesting to watch.

Shipping is a real problem, this thing is 88 pounds and must be packed really well to prevent it getting racked. I was hoping someone would buy it that was driving and they could just pop it in their trunk.

The most common bits for making PCBs are: Drills (various), V-bit cutter for fine lines, 1mm end mill (for large area copper removal), and a 1mm router to cut the board from the panel and large holes.

    I get bits from think & tinker www.thinktink.com .

I haven't used it in a year and it's a shame to just let it sit around (plus I could use the money).

I generally use autocad to make DXF and import that into the LPKF software, but it will import gerber files too.

    Bean.
