Isopropyl Alcohol

I was wondering what uses isopropyl alcohol has for soldering or PCB work.· I received some unopened bottles that were going to be properly disposed of but I don't know exactly the best uses for it other than cleaning.· Can someone help me?

    My buddy swears that isopropyl alcohol is great for removing hot melt glue, but I haven't yet tried it myself.

    It comes in handy for clean up, to be sure. Especially when resoldering. Some bad spots on the board don't get noticed until you've removed the residue from where the old component was. If your into etching your own boards, then it is used to remove ink mistakes on the copper before applying the ferric cloride. Plus if a PCB has been handled alot before soldiering, its good to remove oil from the pads that may have come from your hands.

    I use it for removing resist from my home-made PCBs, and for flux removal after soldering.
