I need the most basic of the two. Could you advise on either the " Programming and Customizing the..." or the "Programming the Propeller with Spin..."
"
It really depends on your preffered method of learning. If you prefer to have a more traditional step through of the Propeller, then I would recommend getting "Programming the Propeller with Spin: A Beginner's Guide to Parallel Processing".
But, if youre the type that likes to learn through example then I would recommend "Programming & Customizing the Multicore Propeller Microcontroller: Official Guide"
I would consider the Programming the Propeller with Spin... to be the more basic of the two.
I'm just now reading Harprit's book. One of the benefits of his book is that he uses lots of common, available hardware and he seems to have experience with other microcontrollers which he has applied to this book. I find his examples all very intuitive, easy to understand and clearly explained. He deserves more credit than he has issued his humble self. Being a Propeller newbie as he was provided certain benefits in this book.
The other book is truly an awesome resource.
So, my advice: BUY THEM BOTH. Invest in yourself because this shall bring certain return on your investment, long after other methods of spending your money have been forgotten.
