Cheap Custom Parts

Anyone interested in getting cheap custom parts made? I can build anything up to 100x100x130mm(4x4x5") with an overhang of less then 45 deg.
For a limited time only I am willing to do this for the ridiculously low cost of $15 for prints up to 30CC and only $0.50 cents per CC after that+ shipping and applicable taxes.
I can get parts made in either black or white ABS plastic.
If you provide an STL file of your design I can tell you how many CCs of plastic would be used.
Each of these parts use less then 25CC.

Do you make these using your own equipment?

Failure Modes:
*Idler wheel cracks - the idler wheel pushes the plastic filament against the drive motor. The original is made of acrylic and can break very easily. Recomend buying an aluminum replacement off ebay.
*PTFE insulator leaks - this is the most common failure mode. Between the plastic drive system and the hot barel is a PTFE insulator. If something goes wrong during a print the PTFE insulater can get warped and plastic will leak through around the barels threads and out. To help provent this it is best to get a PEEK or Hybrid replacement off ebay and to keep a spare.
Other Negatives:
*Noisy
*Steppers occasionally skip a step especially when hot requiring you to re do the print
*Standard heated build platform takes a long time to heat up
*Standard heated build platform is only 80x100 do to bolts(I am fixing this on mine by replacing with counter sunk screws)
It is great to be able to make your own parts though.

It seems he stopped selling the machines on there however due to falling behind on orders (he really hoped I could work this week). Anyway, should he get caught up again I can give out a promotional code. I believe the price for the printer is about $800 with this code.
Nah... that's not a good place... he was asked by the community to stop taking orders because he wasn't actually delivering any.
A better place to go for the Mendel is the project home page itself, here: objects.reprap.org/wiki/Main_Page

I liked the one that uses plastic blocks made by a MakerBot and epoxyed together to make the case instead of timber. Believe it used 5kg of black ABS.
There is a translucent blue acrylic lasercut one that looks awesome. The acrylic one could be glued and save a lot of lasercutting of the screw slots.
It's a pity the electronics are on the outside. The case hides most of the works, but the cable look a mess. I have a mini-itx power supply and two old identical printer/scanners so I must see what parts I can scavenge for building one. I would like to drive it with a Propeller

The build platform I would modify to be powered directly from the ATX power supply and use a mosfet to control its temp write on the platform. It needs to be 110C or off no other temps are really needed.
The print head I would keep stock since it is nice to have inter swappable parts.

a propmod or any of the other prop boards could easily replace that.

I have been looking into building a version myself. In Australia we are supposed to be metric, but guess what. The local hardware store carries 5/16" ZP threaded bar with Whitworth thread, but not metric 8mm. It is close enough to be used instead. As for the roundbar, I haven't found it yet.

I have been researching the extruder design as there seems to be a lot of problems here. So far I have found ceramic tubes that could be used as the primary insulator to the shaft and can be glued with ceramic cement.

1a) Replace idler wheel with Aluminum Idler Wheel
1b) more expensive but would be better way to go is replace entire extruder with Really strong filament driver
2) Replace standard heater wire with Ceramic Heater
3) Install Support on heated build platform
4) Replace PTFE insulator with Hybrid Insulator
These 4 things would drastically improve the reliability of the system. I have done 1a,3, & 4 so far. I will do 1b, and 2 when I get the money. For now I am desperately trying to find the $215 I need to finish a bot I intend to take on my hike up Mount Robsin in August. I am running out of time.
