Under the battery compartment lid there are six jumper pins on my Comcast remote control. What are those for? Can they be interfaced with BS2?

I always thought of it as a programmig header.
My thought was...Cool, this way they can easily update the remote's Eeprom to work when they change the box's format.

I DO have a friend who works for Comcast so I'll "actually" ask now.
