Just saw these little cuties on Ebay: ·http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110542784804· Just 128 MB RAM, 2 GB solid state hard drive, WiFi, Windows CE. They have been selling·as low as·~$60-ish with shipping. If it runs the PBASIC editor and the keyboard size·is useable, it might be·nice for·a portable programming terminal·in the field... I may·try to·grab one·for $50. If anyone has one or can say good or bad, please share!

It uses an ARM processor, so I doubt it's compatible with any of Parallax's dev tools.

would be great for programming web sites since you only need notepad and a web browser.

Good to know, Phil. I thought WinCE might be a problem.

I WinCE at the numerous potential incompatibility issues.

I just bought an Asus EEE PC which is a little bigger than this thing. $269 at Best Buy, 10 inch screen, wifi, ethernet, 3 USB, external VGA, weighs 2 pounds, Windows XP. (Their higher end models have Windows 7 starter; I specifically wanted XP though.) You can use the external VGA at the same time as the little native screen for a multi-monitor setup. You do need an external CD or DVD drive but there is no doubt it runs all the usual Windows development tools. I plan to use it at the shop for internet access with full size screen, keyboard, and mouse, and to unplug it and use it standalone for field work. It's a lot easier to handle than my old Dell Latitude, which I'm going to pass on to one of our other technicians.

I have an Acer Aspire 8.9" one, otherwise same specs, that I use for portable propellering - heck I brought it to UPEW last year!

I have the heavier one with the six cell battery pack - it really does last for about six-seven hours.

@kf4ixm: That's $40 + $40 shipping! Always check for overcharging shipping on those "too good to be true" deals. Once you click "buy", there ain't no "oops" button.

I also have a 10.1" Acer Aspire One with Win XP, it works fine. So far! One of those $200 Woot deals. Nice travel computer.

The ad says it has a TFT screen. When I saw the price, I was sure it had to be an STN.

mikediv, how does the scren look on your unit?

Regarding that $60, 7 inch netbook with a 300 MHz ARM processor, 128 MB of RAM and WindowsCE. It won't be fast and it won't run any Windows programs written for an x86 CPU.

If you're looking for a netbook that will run Windows XP well, Mwave is selling some refurbished models for $169 www.mwave.com/mwave/subcategory.asp?CatID=233&parent=5^232

So what's the point if it can run windows programs? The Sony PSP almost has more processing power. I guess windows CE is kinda lame.

Phil I have the Posin Teklogic its actually really nice but I have windows CE on it its an Arm MCU so none of the Parallax tools will run on it, it even has a serial port the system has a lot of features and for web browsing or screwing around with Linux its awesome I just wanted to turn it into a dedicated Prop tool though
