On learning mathmatics and electronics

Gang,
Can anyone recommend some good post-algebra math books to study? I was reading up on RCTIME and was humiliated that I could not calculate tau. I got through high school but never took math much further then a+b=c.
And for someone who's been messing with electronics since around six years of age, I know surprisingly little electrical theory. I hope to attack my old copy of Radio Shack's "Getting Started in Electronics" later this year, any other suggestions?
I'll never get accredited this way and should probably go back to school for this stuff, but my school days are long gone, and with the Internet as it is I don't think I'll have trouble finding help if I'm stuck on something.
