Im looking at this product here and was wondering how do you connect the suggested 12v SLA battery to the prop motor board?

here is the battery:

Any help greatly appreciated.

1 - Wires with crimp connectors directly to the motor board.
2 - Wires from battery to a pair of terminal strips, then to the motor board and other boards.
3 - Power distribution board connected to battery
4 - Power distribution wiring harness

Correct me if I am wrong, when you say motor board do you mean the motor controllers? and when you say power distribution board do you mean the prop robot control board?

Please forgive the ignorance it is my first attempt at a fairly advanced robot.

Thanks for you post it really helps alot.

Also if this helps at all here is the microcontroller I am using.

Yes, motor board does refer to the motor controllers. If you plan on using the 12V battery to power all the electronics as well as the motors keep in mind that you will need to add a diode and a reasonably large capacitor to prevent the motor start-up voltage sags from affecting the rest of the electronics (robot control board).

Keep in mind that I am not familiar with this kit, but in looking at the schematics of the controller and control board I would connect it with a simple 3 way wire harness from the battery to the 2 motor controllers and robot control board. The robot control board would have a diode and capacitor in the line, and the other two would be direct connections.

thank you for both of your replies. So if I am to understand correctly I should be able to Direct connect to the motor controllers and in reading the pdf, at the very most would need a diode and capacitor to hook the 12v battery into the robot control board.

so it would be something like:
The battery connected to each motor, then each motor connected to each controller, and each controller connected to the robot control board.
The battery connected to a diode/capacitor circuit(series/parallel?) then connected to the robot control board.
After that using the diode capacitor circuit I could connect all my sensors to get power from that circuit.

After reading the suggested pdf pages I believe I will need to connect the 12v battery into something so that it can connect to the battery pack socket on page 5 of the pdf.

is this correct?

Thank you for your replies, they have been very very helpful.

I really want to thank you both for these replies you have no idea how helpful they have been. I woke up at 4 in the morning with this question/thread in my mind that I had somehow overlooked.

I love this:

[quote]
18” diameter round robot base provides zero-turn radius

A zero-turn radius? So the robot can't turn at all?

At best, the hyphen is misplaced.

I believe it should have been point-turn radius perhaps?

I would have used "a turning radius of zero". Failing that, "a zero turning radius" would have been preferable but still
potentially ambiguous. Certainly the "zero" should not be hyphenated to the "turn".
