I think the propeller servo controller found here www.parallax.com/StoreSearchResults/tabid/768/List/0/SortField/4/ProductID/595/Default.aspx?txtSearch=propeller+servo+controller can be programmed to run Ping, HM55B...etc. I didn't think this was the case before since I didn't understand what the TXB0108PW chips did, but it looks like they just shift 3.3V prop outputs to 5V and 5V inputs from the world back to 3.3 for the prop. I think that means I can hook the above devices directly up to the PSC and away we go. Can anyone confirm this? This is kind of exciting to me since the original PSCs (parallax servo controllers) could do no more than be a servo controller.

edit: Also, an advance sorry if this has been covered before...a quick search didn't yield anything. It seems like a prop board that more robot experimenters would be interested in if they knew the capabilities and did the math on the price of other combos of prop plug and prop board

unfortunately, I guess you only have access to 16 pins.

    Confirmed. Neat little device; bi-directional level (3.3 <-> 5.0)·converter.

    You could also use the Propeller ProtoBoard. It has a place for 4 3 pin headers for servo control and a place for a header to switch the voltage input to either the 5 V or 3.3 V regulated supplies to the servos. That board, a little wiring and the Servo32v7 on the OBEX will let you control up to 32 servos on one board.

    Will work for Propeller parts!
