soundpal with sumobot

I have a sumobot built and am trying to add the soundpal to it but cannot get it to work.· I have it running at 5 volts and have done the programming exactly the way the book and templates said to, but have had no luck in getting sound out of it.· Can anyone help?· Maybe some sample of working code or some way to test it?
