    This is a novel way to transmit data.
    Of course you would have to blink data back to the LED light somehow
    so you would need two LED lights, one driven from a port or adapter
    on the computer...each light having the LEDs act
    as both sensor and transmitter, a few LEDs could just remain off
    in order better act as sensors I guess.

    The LED connected to the computer could be a pretty low power device
    I would think...USB should easily handle the power and data I/O
    requirements.

    I suppose LEDs could be engineered to be much more sensitive data
    receiving devices than they are now?

    Some years back, before WiFi (was there ever a time before WiFi?), weren't there products that used ceiling-mounted infra-red emitters/receivers to act as wireless internet access points?

    I imagine it's basically the same thing. Still interesting.
