Hey all,

Who has a laser cutter that can cut two (2) 18" diameter 1/4" acrylic disks for me? Very simple request if you have enough work envelope and laser power.

I'll trade you Parallax product, or pay for the service (your choice).

These would be shipped to my attention at Parallax, within the next week.

Thanks,

Ken Gracey

    Hey Roy!

Turns out that the local Tap Plastics has pre-cut laser blanks in 18" diameter.

They're $25. Let me know if you want me to pick one up for you.

    - Ken

I have a CNC router with a ~22" usable cutting area if you need something in the future. I'm in Petaluma, which makes for cheap shipping to Rocklin. :)

Ken, I'd love it if you could grab two for me, actually. Just let me know how you want me to pay for them including shipping.

JasonDorie, I recently put together a CNC machine (from Zen Toolworks), but it only has a 12" x 12" work area. I'm still learning the software to drive it (using EMC2), and trying to figure out what design software I want to use. Currently I just have some really basic free software that lets me do basic shapes and cuts, but I think I want something more capable.

Roy - Feel free to PM me, or you can just email me at mail AT jasondorie DOT com if you have questions. I have a few different software packages I use, depending on the job - Some are 2D, some are 3D, and I'm happy to give you feedback on them. I'm planning to build a larger machine, as I'm finding the 20" cutting area too limiting for some of the work I want to do. It's addictive. :)
