UPEC -- part 3 Nickel-o-matic

Mike also brought his now infamous Nickel-o-matic to UPEC.

http://www.parallax.com/tabid/769/Default.aspx

It became clear to the conference organizers that how one configures the tables at a PropExpo... depends upon whether or not the Nickel-o-matic is going to be there.· First, the Nickel-o-matic needs its own row... the kids flock around it and stay there endlessly playing with the machine.· Next... it has to be close to a bathroom.· By the time the little kiddies admit that they need to use the facilities... it is already too late, unless those facilities happen to be 10 feet away.

And we need a game room... there are going to be more and more future propheads coming and the meetings are going to get longer ... and we need something to keep the tykes happy.· A Propeller game room would be perfect and would give everyone a chance to see and play with the latest and the best.

I wonder if Mike could do a pin ball machine?

Bryan and I have already committed to bringing the Propeller Arcade with us to Norwalk.
(Sorry guys, it was simply too big to bring to UPEC.)

Bryan's Hydra was getting alot of action from kids too! Perhaps a Propeller game area?

We have to have a game area... I would suggest to anyone producing games... to just assume that you (Oldbit) want everything necessary to set up the game and have it run when you hit the fuse box. And it would be nice if someone other than Oldbit... would volunteer to set up and manage the game room/corner. I watched Jeff, and he didn't stop long enough to take a breath... adding one more featurette might be the camel that broke the storks back.

I have been working on a new sign for the Nickel-O-Matic. I think it will have a tag line something like:

    The Nickel-O-Matic
    So exciting you'll
    wet your pants!

My son (5 years old) was obsessed with that Nickel-O-Matic. After getting his first wooden nickel out of it, he asked if he could get another for his sister (then for the baby, then for mom, and later "for the chickens"). He would not leave that machine. Despite many bathroom trips, he came to me in the afternoon and had completely peed his pants, all the way down to his socks. His pockets were bulging with those wooden nickels. I got him changed in the car, and when we got back inside, he went straight back the machine. I was talking to Mike Davey later when Charles came by to show us his nickels. One of them was warped badly and Mike picked it up out of curiosity. Turns out it had gotten "wet".

Here is a picture of him and the baby with the wooden nickels today. I counted 73 of them. He keeps them in a special basket on his dresser.

    Chip,

You might want to keep him away from casinos when he gets older! smile.gif
