How To Build A RC Lawn Mower? A Guide Anywhere?

Hey everyone,

I know when I read through the "What is a Microprocessor" book, I saw a picture of some guys who had built a RC lawn mower.

I've always thought the idea of doing this would be cool, and possibly simplifed if I could do it using my Basic Stamp 2 module/board of education.

What I'm looking for is a guide or a list of parts and where I can get those parts on how to assemble a RC lawn mower. Right now I'm having a hard time finding a big enough servo to do the job or something that controls the wheels. I know some use wheelchair motors, but I'm fairly new to most typical motors.

Any recommendations is welcome, I just figured I'd start my research here since Google failed me on this one :)

Thanks

Well I've seen some commerical versions go from $999 on up to $3,999, but of course I'm not trying to spend that much. I'd say $400 max, and I believe I've ran into a few DIY people who recorded videos of their RC lawn mower on youtube state they spent around that amount.

Yeah I did see that one on my first attempt, but failed to find the actual instructions for constructing the RC lawn mower. After another look, I see he has a "Next Page" link at the top of the page that goes further into how to build it. That's great and will give it a go, however, it would be even nicer to see someone using a Microprocessor made from Parallax to get this accomplished. I'm sure after I read through how he did he's I can figure out a way to use my Board of Education carrier board.

I'm still not sure how you can control the Board of Education with a RC, but I'm thinking if you buy that wireless device parallax makes, and buy the transmitter...you can acccomplish it, but as you can see I'm still new to micro , but thanks for bringing that link back up.
