I just finished a project at my school where we used a BS2p40 as the controller for our mechanical design class. Anyways, I had to turn in the controller after the project was over and I just had a great idea for something I wanted to tryout. I would need to make multiple distance measurements in different directions (the more the better). What would be the best controller for this type of application? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you're comfortable with learning some more programming then the Propeller is a good choice.

According to me u can use DIRRS but you need to know how it works you will get that in other post of mine on DIRRS sensor you can use it in different directions or you can just use one and use a servo with it.

You know what i mean attach the DIRRS on servo with a solid wire. or you can make a plastic parts by taking a dimensions of the gear and manufacture that in the machine if you have one in school. Other wise you can use solid wire.

Hope it will work for you that what my thinking is bcoz i had used DIRRS in making readings for boe bot and i had used servo with it which makes the DIRRS rotates and it takes the reading in 3 different directions. Hope i helped.
