Has anyone thought about using an electric gulf caddy for a starting point on a robot project?

robotics project in my youth which used an adult scooter base for a robot and thought, "this sounds like dad" [noparse]:)[/noparse]
A robotic golf cart is on level with remote control of an automobile..
I'm picturing something like the DARPA "automated vehicle" Grand Challenge...

I don't see a steering system, but would make an interesting robot..
