special use of basic stamp

Hello All,
I am wondering if the basic stamp could be used as a voice changer for a costume. what I am thinking is using a mic for audio input, run it through a program and have the output go through a amp.

What the idea is, If a basic (no pun) is made, just by changing program it could be used for different costumes.
could also be used to add effects to the voice, like Darth Vader breathing sound.

thanks,
stilgar

No, a Basic Stamp just isn't fast enough to be able to process audio. A Propeller could do this task easily.

Ok, do I need any special circuit to interface the mic to the propeller, other than a pre amp?

Look at the schematic for the Propeller Demo Board. The Demo Board has a microphone on the board as well as a stereo headphone amplifier for sound output. You can plug in any amplified speakers that you might use with a computer or iPod or equivalent. There's software in the Propeller Object Exchange that digitizes sound from the microphone and either displays it on a screen or copies it to the headphone output. There is speech synthesis software as well ("Singing Monks" and "Vocal Tract"). You can just use a Demo Board or duplicate what parts you need using the schematic as a guide. The Propeller Application Note (AN001) discusses ADC and DAC with the Propeller. If you design your own circuit board, you need to keep the ADC components physically close to the Propeller as discussed in AN001 and some of the threads on the Propeller forum. Again, use the Demo Board design as a guide.

It's a posted completed project that plays with the voice's pitch.
