I have been on the lookout for a decent modem like these www.pacificcrest.com/products.php?page=adlvantage

What is the deal though, with the low throughput of 19k? Is that a limitation of the 400 mhz band? Digi Xtends are doing 115K over the air at 900mhz.

There is always tradeoffs among throughput, minimum power output, reliability, range, cost, and frequency. 19KB is typical in the 400MHz region using moderately complex modulation techniques.

I do ATV On the 440 and I use almost 6 Megs of B/W ..

Mind My amount of power per MHz is spread out over a larger portion of the band . VS NFM for voice.
