Big Week in Robotics? Apparently Not!
The first annual National Robotics Week is RIGHT NOW, if you didn't know: April 10-18. http://www.nationalroboticsweek.org/· Not one single event in Los Angeles, no media coverage, I haven't heard a word about it. YAWN. Anybody see anything in their·town? Perhaps it was poor planning to schedule it during income tax week.
And RoboGames is next weekend, April 23-25· http://robogames.net/· Anybody competing there?
TCFFHRC was last weekend,·but nary a peep in the Forum. http://www.trincoll.edu/events/robot/Rules/default.asp
So tell me Guys, where's the Fire ?

The torch is burning in Louisiana. The Grace Episcopal GatorBot's had a Robotics Demonstration Day and our end of the year party. We gave out free robotics literature, had some great door prizes (Boe-Bot and WAM kits). We had more that thirty people attend - mostly clubmembers and parents - but also some others who I am sure will be joining the club!
On the National Robotics Week website - go to the partners page and you will see the GatorBots Logo along with MIT, Geogia Tech and Carnegie Mellon!
Look on the events page for the arrow to Northeast Louisiana and that is us. They even linked to the clubs' blog. As a follow up, we are posting photos and giving an attendence report to the NRW people - who were great to work with.
We partied like it was·1999! Attached are a couple of pics. By the way - I still got my taxes paid!

By the way - Demos included the , a breif into to Robotics, Scibbler line following, Scribbler with a remote control (code courtesy of erco), Stingray roaming with Pings and LCD display, Scribbler Theremin (uses the light sensor and plays techno music) and the Scibbler scribbling initials.
We feasted on a giant cookie cake, peanut butter crackers, cheese nips and Kool-aid drink boxes!
How is that for fire?

Looks like a well planned setup! I sure the kids were impressed with the Stingray!
I'm a little worried about a preacher and Kool-Aid in the same venue.

@Jim - I made that joke a little too easy didn't I?
