Suggested CSS change

The font used for the {CODE}{/CODE} text contains Lucida Console as primary option, which I think is a Windows only fixed width font. The alternative fonts listed are "Verdana, Tahoma, Helvetica, Sans-Serif" and are not fixed width! On an unencumbered X-Windows system either Helvetica or Sans-Serif will be used, as long as none of the listed (Windows) fonts is installed, leading to variable width display of the code boxes which is inappropriate. If you just changed the set of alternative fonts to e.g. "Courier New, Courier, Fixed" instead of "Helvetica, Sans-Serif" you would allow both worlds, Windows and X-Windows (probably including Mac OS-X) to display the text in code boxes with a fixed font.

The style tag in the http://forums.parallax.com/forums/styles/dotNetBB/css/style.css file is .msgCode.

TIA,
Juergen

This has been suggested before. But, rather than messing with the current dotNetBB forum software or CSS file, Parallax is in the process of replacing it entirely with vBulletin. Meanwhile, you can fix it yourself if you have a browser that supports user mode:

Well, messing with the current settings is an exaggeration? I believe that using a non fixed width font as an alternative to a fixed width font is just wrong. I though it should be in the interest of Parallax to have that fixed, especially since it won't change anything for most users out there, but make the remaining 5% or so happier.

I don't disagree that the CSS has issues. And it would be a simple change to make, without collateral repercussions. But it won't happen that way. Parallax has committed to a complete overhaul, rather than piecemeal fixes.
