Is the Basic Stamp a suitable base from which to understand FPGAs? If so what would I need in the way of kit?
Many thanks
Bob

Not really. The Basic Stamp is a microcontroller, very different from a FPGA (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-programmable_gate_array).

A Basic Stamp could be connected to a FPGA to exercise or control it, but that's not really what you're asking.

Doesn't Parallax sell an FPGA evaluation board? You might try that.

D'oh.· I've reviewed and this was an Altera partnership done in 2002 -- I don't think it's offered anymore.
