that is mean. That is about as bad as filling a persons Cadillac with cement and saying April Fools. We take our props seriously.

I don't know about·cement but I once saw a car filled up with expanding polythene foam.

It had much the same effect.

Very nice. If only you had said "UPENE" instead of "UPEW." smile.gif

Anyways, didn't Mr. Gracey say at UPENE-09 that the Prop II would be coming out sometime this fall...?

    OBC,

I know you're self-employed, but do you want a job?

    :)

Really, this is the kind of dreams marketing people have every night. They need something to crow about.

Ken, there is a reason most marketing people can only dream about this kind of marketing. They are trying to sell something most folks are not interested in at best, or don't want at worst, whereas most of your customers are impatiently (and with great anticipation) awaiting the Prop2.

PS - If money is the holdup for Prop2 I would be happy to pre-order and pre-pay for several units, as I am certain many others would.

kwinn, I am thankful every day for the point you made. We have unique products, appreciative customers and friends, friendly competition, and a place where we really love to work. I can only imagine what it would be like to sell toilet bowl brushes or similar commodities. I appreciate that reminder.

Prop2: money isn't the holdup - the design team is still working. We're always planning ahead for the expenses of foundry shuttles, minimum orders, etc. Having 40 years of experience with Chip I know he can't be pushed along (disaster for marketing people who want to run engineering) so we'll wait patiently. My job is to make sure the environment around him is conducive to productivity.

In the spirit of today, I have fooled Vaati via IM that there was a givaway on DealExtreme.com and they were giving out free vintage video game parts. And he fell for it. smile.gif

@Ken: Who waits for a toilet brush to come out? tongue.gif The PropII will gain instant popularity among forum members. Which, I believe, is 19,044 at the current time and counting every day.

Not quite, remember that 19044 includes a few spammers--some possibly even selling plungers!

Perhaps we should just give a P8x32a some Viagra. How long before it takes effect?

Actually, my take was the opposite of most folks. When I saw the thread title, my knee-jerk reaction was, "Oh, Smile! I'm going to miss out, because I won't be there," but then, "Wait a minute: that'd be impossible. Chip's still working on the design." But still, I breathed a minor sigh of relief when I clicked the link.

Man, I'll be glad when April 1st is over! 'Three and a half hours and counting here on the Left Coast...

    Ken,

Every once in a while I ponder about companies that I admire, which I assure you are very few. Ethics, and passion for the products/services the company provides is the most important. Now when a small company not only meets that criteria, but is also able to accomplish feats that seem only possible for much larger entities, then that really separates the good from the great; Scaled Composites come to mind as one, as well as Parallax.

I think it's great that you see the importance of basing the company around engineering, as it almost always produces excellent products. I think (or at least hope) that as long as Parallax provides products that are useful, unique, and intuitive, then it will always have sufficient customers.
