You guys are very inspiring
I have long been interested in robotics, ever since watching "Lost in Space" re-runs as a kid, and then seeing R2D2 in Star Wars.· For many years I have wanted to build a full size R2 like on the Astromech site, but have never been able to afford it.· I just recently picked up the BOE-bot after thinking about it for a couple years.· It seemed too "basic" (no pun intended) to keep my interest.· Looking at the box obiously doesn't do it justice as to what it can do, and what it can teach you.· But seeing all of the projects people are posting here, and the robots they have made I find extremely inspiring.· And I am guessing that some people learned on the Basic Stamp so it is even more inspiring knowing that I may learn the knowledge required·to build similar robots some day.· I am having fun with the BOE-bot so far and am slowly learning.· I just wanted to thank everyone for posting their inspiring projects.

I was a major Lost in Space fan before it came out in reruns, back when we were glued to the set for the new episode each week. I was 4-1/2 years old when it debuted (1965), which, in retrospect, means I was·just about exactly the right age for it.
Still, when Star Trek appeared a year later, even this 5-1/2 year old recognized it as a MUCH better program.
But yeah, these guys here are very inspiring. Every day I'm blown away by what is possible for a person who's willing to put in some time and effort with this stuff, and every day I'm blown away by the cleverness of the folks on these forums.
I especially like C3PO which is a cousin to the Penguin robot. :)
It's very kind of you to post a thank you of appreciation to all
those that posted projects. I consider each project a
success if it can inspire at least one person.
BoeBot is somewhat magical doing more than I could ever
imagine throughout the years I have owned it. In fact, it has those
skinny wheels so maybe it's a collectors item, but one that I will
not give up or sell. It has had at least three fully expanded robot
incarnations over the years and provided the greatest and most
fun education and continues to serve as a BASIC Stamp test
platform for numerous projects. At one time, it was a part of the
Basic Stamp Supercomputer.
